What’s Baking

Howdy! I’m Brandon. This is my old wordpress site, which I’ve maintained since about 2012 or so, when I briefly dabbled in self-publishing. I don’t write much here nowadays, so if you’ve landed here, it’s probably because you googled me for one reason or another.

So:

You can read more about who I am on the About page, peruse my work for games here, film and TV here, and some comics work I’ve done here. (I also have some old self-published novels out there that you could probably find with not too much research, but I don’t really love the writing, so I don’t promote them here anymore.)

It’s been about a year and a half since my last confession, so here’s what I’ve been up to since then:

  • I shipped two games as a Narrative Lead! The first was Section 13, which sort of a harried salvage job, but we got it across the finish line and there’s some work in there I’m fond of. The second was Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch, which came out with a more even bake. I learned a ton on both, got to sit in on hundreds of hours of voiceover sessions, and briefly went a little bit insane trying to ship them both at once. Huzzah!
  • My brother passed. It was pretty rough. I haven’t talked about it very much publicly.
  • My wife and I moved home from Los Angeles to Pittsburgh so she could attend law school and become a badass employee-rights attorney. She is much cooler than me.
  • I’ve had some minor screenwriting achievements, including completing multiple new features and pilots (a few of which have now snagged a much-coveted Overall 8 on the Black List), and a beloved pilot of mine, Rumble in the Lanes, was chosen as a Black List Featured Project.
  • I’ve somehow managed to sustain running a D&D campaign for 5 years and nearly a hundred sessions, which is pretty cool.

Here’s what I’ve got coming up in the new year:

  • I’m doing some narrative design work on God Save Birmingham, a medieval PC zombie survival sim set to enter Early Access at [UNDISCLOSED FUTURE POINT].
  • I’ve got a secret audio drama project that’s been slowly simmering for about two years, and will hopefully have some big news on that soon.
  • I recently bought a Zojirushi Virtuoso bread machine and will be making many delicious breads. I currently have a honey-buttermilk loaf rising. The image at the top of this post is a cinnamon swirl bread I made the other day, which became the best french toast I’ve ever tasted.

That’s all for now!
